“Extremely proud of my DAF XF 90th Anniversary Edition”

250 models. That was the total production of DAF’s 90th Anniversary Edition of the XF. Guaranteed exclusivity in other words, and even more so when you have picked number 007. Freelance driver Ruud Rexwinkel feels like the king of the road in his super luxurious anniversary model. Ruud is a freelance driver who is usually to be found behind the wheel of a DAF. “I mostly deliver shipping containers from Rotterdam to Paris or to the fruit distribution centre in Maasdijk,” says Ruud. “I like a bit of comfort and that’s why I drive a DAF. I sleep better in a DAF bed than I do in my own bed at home.”
Ruud clocks up 130,000 kilometres a year and he traded in his previous DAF when it had reached the 770,000 kilometre mark. “To be honest, it didn’t even need replacing, it was still running perfectly,” he says. “But I just couldn’t ignore this fabulous anniversary model.”
And it’s hard to argue with him: with its extra and luxurious fittings, exclusive striping and subtle design elements, the XF 90th Anniversary Edition is a real head-turner. The historical DAF logo beams at you from the front and the interior also features this iconic image in several places.
Ruud’s chosen number, 007, is featured both in the cabin interior and on the specially illuminated DAF logo panel. “007 was the first number that sprang to my mind,” says Ruud. “An iconic number, one that stirs memories of my youth. After all, who didn’t want to be James Bond when they were a kid?” Ruud has since had the words ‘For your eyes only’ added to his truck. “I am extremely proud of this truck,” concludes Ruud enthusiastically.
